R - Silver View Park/Consultant Selection Page 2 1/22/81 Following the three presentations the Commission made the following vote: Motion made by Chairperson BurmPiSr-Pr, seconded by Gc A;iggioiEer' SGUtt To recommend to the City Council the firm of Saunders and Thalden Inc. for providing Phase One Master Park Plans for Silver View Park and, �rther recommending that the Council direct staff to negotiate a formal contract with them. The motion passed unanimously. 7 ayes 0 nayes The Phase One L.A.W.C.O.N. grant allocates $6,500.00 for engineering/consulting fees and Saunders bid proposal ranged from $5,900.00 to $7,100.00. Staff would recommend that the City Council accept the Parks and Recreation Commis- sion's recommendation of Saunders and Thalden based on the following facts: 1. Their firm was the low bid of the seven received and the only firm which came in at or below budget. 2. They have been actively involved with the City's Park Planning process to date and their work has been well received by City Council, Park Commission and Staff. 3. They have had extensive experience in similar projects both in the metro and outstate area. 4. They have completed construction documents and specifications in the past which were reviewed by the Commission as high quality material. 5. They would provide additional copies of their plan to be inserted in the Park Master Plan which will complete that document. Staff's specific recommendation is for the City Council to direct staff to negotiate a formal consulting contrac+ with Saunders and Thalden not to exceed the budgeted $6,500.00 price. Staff has placed copies of all seven proposals in the City Council Library should you desire to explore the proposals.
