Robert Broughton- ASLA <br />Vice President <br />PRIMARY Landscape Architectural Design <br />CAPABILITIES: Recreational Planning, Design and Construction, <br />Earth Shelter Design <br />EDUCATIONt B.L.A. - Lanscape Architect - University of Minneeota, '73 <br />REGISTRATION: Landscape Architects Minnesota No. 12334 <br />EXPERIENCE: Landscape Architectural Design and Conatruc ion documents have <br />been prepared by Mr. Broughton for a variety of commercial and <br />institutional clients. He has provided sits planning services <br />for such projects as restaurants, condominiums, shopping centers as well as <br />private residences. The restoration of historic architecture and communities <br />is a special interest of Mr. Broughton. He has been actively involved in <br />developing the short and long range planning policy for the landscape component <br />of St. Paul's Historic Hill District. Most recently he played a major role <br />In the development of St. Paul Academy and Summit School's Long Range Develop- <br />ment Plan. This master plan makes specific recommendations to reorganize <br />the school's land uses by upgrade of athletic facilities, solve drainage <br />problems, expand play areas, and, where appropriate, to utilise plant materials <br />as both an outdoor classroom as well so a tool to decrease energy consumption. <br />Recreational Planning. Design and Construction is Mr. Broughton's major <br />emphasis throughout his professional career. As landscape architect for the <br />City of St. Paul's Parks and Recreation Department, he has been involved in <br />the redesign of several city parks, numerous recreation esntere. athletic <br />areas, and play structures. Mr. Broughton has specifically done the concept <br />development, working drawings, specifications, coat estimation, and con- <br />struction supervision. <br />3arth Sheltor Design and energy efficiency is a specialised area of Mr. <br />Broughton. Be is presently working with a St. Paul architectural firm in <br />developing Margret Recreational Center, the first earth shelter recreation <br />center in the United States. Additionally, he has participated in the <br />design of Summit Avenue earth sheltered townhouses in St. Paul, the Vandyke <br />residence in Stillwater, Minnesota, a partially earth sheltered residence; <br />and the Castle Royal restaurant in St. Paul, an earth sheltered restaurant. <br />He has been invited to present a paper this year at the University of <br />Oklahoma on the importance of site planning for earth sheltered structures. <br />EMPLOYMENT: Earth Plus, Inc. - Principal - St. Paul, Minnesota <br />City of St. Paul - Parks and Recreation Department - <br />Landscape Architect - St. Paul.
