MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCI
FROM: CLERK-ADMINISTRATO
DATE: AUGUST 18, 1986
SUBJECT: OUTDOOR {YARNING SIRL•N CONVERSION PROJECT
As you are all aware, during the past year the Civil Defense
Directors of Ramsey County have been meeting to prepare
plans and specifications and obtain bids for the
installation of a County -wide radio activation system for
the County's outddor warning siren system.
ALtached to this memorandum please find a memorandum from
Ramsey County Emergency Services Director Bill Centers
outlining the results of our bid process and the costs for
the conversion of the County -wide system. Based on the
information provided in Mr. Center's letter, the City of
Mounds View will be responsible for a total cost of $6,732
which is $13,268 less Lean the amount of monies contained in
the City's 1986 budget for these purposes. It should be
pointed out, however, that the City in their 1986 buaget
proposed to borrow the majority of these funds from the
City's other fund accounts due to the lack of readily
available cash to pay for such an activity. In view of the
low bids received by the City, I would anticipate that the
C!ty will be able hn makes
loan will not be require i diid Lilo l•1 .
outright purchase of thi equipment.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff )uld recommend Council approve the
purchase of three decoders with test options for the City's
outdoor warning system pursuant to the bids submitted by
Healy -Ruff to Ramsey County.
DFP/mjs
Attachment:
