Residents <br />Reand <br />from the floor. Comments from <br />the Floor <br />Director Thatcher reviewed the request of 5. Howard Kutcher <br />Howard F. Kutcher for a variance. Mr. Kutcher Case 198-86 <br />proposes to construct a 480 square foot addition <br />to his existing 478 square foot garage bringing <br />the total square footage to 958. Director Thatcher <br />noted that City Code Chapter 40.09, Subd. C(1)c, <br />states that in an R-1 District no garage shall <br />exceed 864 square feet in area. <br />Commissioner Forslund expressed her concern with <br />regard to the health, safety and welfare of the <br />residents at this address due to the fact that <br />the lot is extremely large and on a busy street <br />that has no on -street parking available. <br />Motion/Second: Forslund/Miller to grant the variance <br />and to amend the City Code to allow 4 car garages in <br />an R-1, Residential District. <br />2 ayes 2 nays <br />Motion Failed <br />
