MEMO TO: Mayor and city Council
FROM: Mary Saarion, Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
DATE: December 3, 1986
RE: Request to remove parking signs
I would like to request that the city Council approve the removal of
the "No Parking" signs on both sides of Hillview Road along the Hillview
Park block. The reason for this request is the lack of parking spaces
available to accommodate hockey game participants and
spectators.
In the past, a parking lot has been plowed over the softball
outfield area to accommodate approximately ten cars. This will again
be done. However, it really does havoc to the turf and I would
discourage any larger parking space on the park land. Long Lake
Road, being the other border street, is too busy and too narrow to
allow parking.
Police Chief Ramacher agrees that Hillview Road would be wide enough
to allow parking to accommodate the rink users.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the removal of the "No Parking" signs
along Hillview Road on the block bordering Hillview Park to
accommodate for the parking needs of ice rink users.
MS/sl
