MEMO TO: Mayor and Councilmembers
FROM: Mary Saarion, Director
Parks, Recreation and Forestry
DATE: December 8, 1986
RE: Soil Corrections Payment Approval
The bill from 11ary Anderson was received on December 9, 1986. This
bill is for the removal of poor soils and replacement with
compactible material at Groveland Park Tennis Court area. As noted
from the letter, one corner of the area required a six foot depth of
soil excavation and replacement as per the inspectors direction from
Soil Exploration Company. The presumed overall depth was about 3
feet, for this reason the bill comes to $9,199 rather than the
$7,000 originally stated.
It is my opinion that this additional soil corrections was a. necessary
expenditure and the additional cost is legitimate. However, I am
disappointed that my first notification of this change was in the
form of a letter (attached), rather than notification at the time of
the soil corrections.
The additional monies ($2,199) come out of the Park Dedication Fund.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the additional legitimate cost of $2,199
for the soil corrections to Groveland Park Tennis Court area with the
monies coming from the Park Dedication Fund.
MS/sl
Attachment
