Mounds View City Council
Regular Meeting
I, ;C October 24, 1988
1 Page Eight
Park Director Saarion stated that as an advocate of
City Hall park, she would like to see the park kept
as activity oriented as possible, without land being
taker.. She pointed out the park is used extensively
for picnics as well as other activities, and she felt
the first two options presented would add to the
activity potential, whereas the third option would
remove it, along with the soccer field. She also
questioned how much impact there would be on the trees
on the property and pointed rnt the City coul- lose
the designation of a community park.
Mr. Ayaz stated he agreed, that option three would
be a noisier location and would take away the soccer
field.
Public Works Director Minetor stated the gas station
site would be favored over the other two, specifically
because of the loss of property and use of that property
with the other two options, and the noise involved.
Councilmember Blanchard stated she had received a call
last week from someone on the Library Board, and does
not feel the Council has to make a definite recommenda-
tion or decision.
Councilmember Quick stated they could possible place `
the building to the center, and it is up to the Council
to decide the impact they would agree to most.
Park Director Saarion pointed out if a softball field
is ta:.en out, it would eliminate 16 teams of uj, to 20
players each, and considerable revenue from their fees.
She added it would not help much to add lights to
other fields, as there is a 10 PY curfew anyway.
Clerk/Administrator Pauley suggested ;raving Staff indicate
the Coureil's desire for the Library Board to ursue
P -
negotiatiuns on the gas station site, and if that is not
successful, the Council would then have options they
could propose at that time. It was agreed by the Council
to take that approach.
Attorney Karney had no report. 15. Report of
Attorney
Councilmember Wuori had no report.
Councilmember Quick had no report.
16.
