,a,
MEMO i0: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Public Works Foreman Ulrich
DATE: January 4, 1989
SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF BUDGETED BRAKE LATHE
Due to down tine of essential vehicles, added labor costs, and
convenience, Public Works Maintenance Garage had budgeted for a
brake lathe for 1969. I have received two quotes on a Van Norman
Brake Lathe Model 2045. They are as follows:
Equipment Outlet, Inc. $3,628.00
Rel's Manufacturing, Inc. 3,377.00
The budgeted amcunt for our originally specified brake lathe was
$3,000.00. However, that particular model does not have the
capability to turn the drums and disks of our heavy equipment and
dump trucks. Model 2045 does have V is capability for us to do
all brake work in-house, thus expla.ning the added cost.
Staff recommends the purchase of this brake Lathe from Rel's
Manufacturing, Inc. in the amount of $3,377.00. Three thousand
dollars will come from fund Account #100-4260-703. The remaining
$377.00 will come from fund Account 0730-4121-703.
MU/BAC
19
