Page 6 <br />At this time, all we can say is that the City is obligated <br />to abide by the requirements of the 1988 tax law and due to <br />the fact that the Tax Bill was vetoed at such a late date, <br />compliance with most of the truth in taxation requirements <br />would be impossible. It is our hope that the legislature <br />will be able to have a special session to adopt a new tax <br />bill or at least modify truth in taxation requirements iu a <br />manner that would make them workable for cities for this <br />year. <br />I recognize that what I have provided you is a very sketchy <br />summary of what actually happened during this past portion <br />of the legislature's session.
