MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNC'.t.MEMBERS i lip �3 <br />FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR <br />PARS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br />DATE: MAY 31, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: OAKWOOD PARK IMPROVEMENT PLAN <br />The Parks and Recreation Cotrdnission has been working on ideas for an Oakwood <br />Park improvement plan. Ideas for this plan originated from residents who were <br />invited to a meeting for their input on needs at Oakwood Park. A survey was sent to <br />surrounding residents requesting ideas for Oakwood Park improvements. <br />The Commission has spent the last two meetings discussing prices, site Plans and <br />needs for park improvements at Oakwood. Here is a list, approximate cost and total <br />cost of a plan for Oakwood Park. This plan will be open for review by residents who <br />will be invited to the June 22, Park and Recreation Commission meeting. <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission proposes to fund these Oakwood Park <br />improvements with a portion of the $50,000 Park Dedication Fees received in 1989 <br />from Sysco, Corp. <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />APPROXIMATE COST <br />Site preparation <br />$8,000.00 <br />Play equipment <br />11,000.00 <br />Bleachers (3 tier) <br />334.00 <br />Backstop <br />2,000.00 <br />Two (2) players benches <br />500.00 <br />Ag-lime infield <br />2,000.00 <br />Sand volleyball court <br />1,500.0o <br />Water fountain <br />1,000.00 <br />Path re -alignment <br />1,000.00 <br />Two (2) picnic tables <br />700.00 <br />One (1) picnic grit <br />180.00 <br />Four (4) h:.seshoe counts <br />500.00 <br />$28,714.00 <br />The site grading plans will be at the meeting for review. The proposed plan offers <br />adequate drainage using a crowning affect on the infield. SEH provided an alternate <br />plan which offered much better drainage at twice the cost. <br />The Commission reviewed the zmc SEH plans and offered revision ideas for the first <br />less expens+ve plan to offer some additional drainage with minimal cost increase. This <br />revised plan is the one recommended by the Parks and Recreation Commission. <br />r <br />MS/SL <br />
