• TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL Tfc <br />FROM: CLERK-ADMINISTRA <br />G <br />DATE: JUNE 21, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: MOUNDS VIEW/BLAINE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR <br />SYSCO WATER CONNECTION <br />As you may recall, the City previously entered into a Joint <br />Powers Agreement with the City of Blaine for a connection to <br />their municipal water system to provide water to the SYSCO <br />project fcr fire protection purposes. <br />Attached please find a letter I received from Mr. Robert J. <br />Frick, Director of Engineering for SYSCO in Houston, Texas <br />requesting that the Agreement be amended to irarease the <br />thirty day cancellation clause in the original agreement to <br />six months to allow greater time for the company to find <br />alternative water resources should the agreement be <br />cancelled. I presented the proposal to Blaine City Manager <br />Don Poss who presented it to his Council. The Blaine City <br />Council accepted the first amendment to the agreement at <br />their meeting on June 15th. Attached is a copy of Mr. Poss' <br />memo and the amendment contract. <br />Staff would recommend Council approve the first amendment to <br />the agreement between the City of Mounds View and the City <br />of Blaine for the purpose of permitting certain property in <br />the City of Mounds View to connect to the municipal water <br />system of the City of Blaine for fire protection services <br />and authorize the Mayor and Clerk -Administrator to enter <br />into the agreement. <br />DFP/MJS <br />Attachment: <br />Donald F.
