At the dir, ion of the Lakewood City Council, staff evaluated this ,lew <br />neighborhood request and the City Council ordered the tnsta'i-;fon of another <br />multi -way stop sign operation was installed at a second "TEE. intersection on <br />Lee Street. Additional traffic studies were performed and further requests for more stop signs were made to Lakewood City Council officials. As a result Of these requests, the City Council directed the Traffic Engineering Division <br />to install a third multi -way atop sign operation on Lee Street in 'anuary, ' <br />1976. None of the multi -way atoD installations met the warrants of the <br />MDTCD(2)_ an .. --- ---- •« multi -way stop signs were located at -TEE. <br />intersections with Lee Street. <br />In order to evaluate all subsequent traffic condition changes on Lee Street, <br />the present Traffic Engineering staff summarized data for the following <br />Parameters: <br />I. Traffic Volumes <br />1. Stop Sign COMPliance <br />3. Vehicular Spends <br />4. Pedestrian Activity <br />S. Accident Data <br />6. Opinions of the Residents <br />TRAFFIVOLUMES <br />Prior to the installation of any multi -way stop signs, the average daily <br />volume on Lee Street was 2,000 vehicles per day in 1974. Following the <br />• opening of Garrison Street, a parallel collector facility in 1974, the average <br />daily volume on Lee Street decreased by 281 to 1,4:0 vehicles per day.
