1975 and 1978, following the installation of the three multi -way stop signs at
intersections along Lee Street, the following occurred:
1. Traffic grew by 11% to 1,615 vehicles per day due to continued increases
in land use densities in the area.
6
2. After the opening of Kiplinq Parkway, a parallel major street facility in
late 1980, the average daily vnti••w ,.r_
---- -n --c .a-ae1 again decreased by 41%
to 910 vehicles per day.
3. Traffic counts were subsequently taken in 1g85 and showed that volumes had
again increased by 61 to approximately 1,017 vehicles per day. This
growth in volumes was again attributed to continued increases in land use
densitites in the area.
Table 1 sutmmarizes the volume changes throughout the twglve year period.
TABLE 1: SUMMARY OF TRAFFIC VOLUMES ON LEE STEEEf
1974 Speed limit lowered 2000
to 25mph -
1974 Parallel collector 1,450
street faaility paned o 288(1) 1975-1978 Multi -way stop sign 1,613 4111(2)
control operations
installed
1980 Parallel major street 950-411(1)
facility opened
1985 No change 1,017 61(2)
These volumes decreases occurred as a result of the opening of parallel
major, and collector street facilities in 1975 and 1980.
(2) These volume increases were as a result of continued increases in study
area land use densities.
0487T Page 3 of 12
