SPEE-
Te analysis of conditions on Lee Street included the collection of speed
measurements at three locations. A hand held radar device was used to measure
spot speed studies of vehicles moving along Lee Street at the three
locations. The study sites were chosen 10 he far enough away
multi -way stop installations from the so that these signs would not influence the 8,ad
data. The same study locations were chosen throughout the data collection
Period from 1974 through March of 198
5 so that spot speed data could he
compared from year to year.
:able 3 summarizes all the speed data collected on Lee Street during the lace
twelve years.
TABLE 3 - SUMMARY OP STUDY DATA FROM 1974-1985
DATE MULTI TIME OF DAy
ON LEE STREET MEAN SPEED
- (MPH)
8/1/74 None
9:00 A.M.
8/1/74 None
9/23/74 One Multi -Way 5:00 P.M.
Stop
9:00 A.M.
11/12/75 Two Multi -way 7:00 A.M.
Stops
4:00 P.M.
12/15/82 Three Multi -way 7:00 A.M.
Stops
4:30 p.m.
3/19/05 Three Multi -Way 7:00 A.M.
Stops
4:30 P.M.
The data in Table 3 shows that:
29
29
29
26
28
28
28
28
28
85Tfl SPEED -RANGE
PERCENT7'B (MPH)
to
35
32
30
32
31
31
32
32
20 - 40
20-40
21-37
20-3S
32 -41
20-41
20-43
20 - 3R
20-43
Vehicle speeds on Lee Street were typical of most residential streets with
F1
0
0487T Page 5 of 12
