WHEREAS, the philosophy for the installation of a pathway encircling <br />the pond is for the encouragement of exercise by walking; and <br />WHEREAS, five public accesses are available for access and egress onto <br />the pathway for the convenience of walkers; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has requested the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission to prioritize expenditures for the limited monies in the Park Improvement <br />Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the bridge for the expanse across the <br />water narrows is $30,000. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission unanimously agrees tha. the cons outweigh the pros for the installation of <br />a bridge across the Silver View Park pond narrows; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the pathway around the pond provides <br />more than adequate means for leisure walking and enjoyment of the park as intended; <br />and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the bridge may provide negative results <br />in the park at a large cost; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />Prioritizes the construction of a picnic shelter and utilities at Silver View Park over the <br />installation of a bridge. <br />BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Mounds View Parks and Recreation <br />Commission recommends to the City Council that the budgeted monies for a feasibility <br />study for a bridge at Silver View Park pond narrows be stricken from the budget, and <br />further investigation as to the positive and negative affects to the park be pursued by <br />the City in-house. <br />Adopted this 2nd day of August, 1989 by the Mounds View Parks and <br />Recreaticn Commission. <br />Wa Burmeister, Chairperson <br />Frarilt Silvis, Commissioner <br />Gary Steve on, Commissioner <br />Dave Long, Corn ssioner <br />Pam Starr, Commi sioner <br />Edd Trettel, Commissioner <br />ho <br />r- <br />
