J
MEMO TO: MICHELLE HREN, CLIP PLANNER
FROM: RICK WRISKEY, CITY FORESTER
DATE: AUGUST 4, 1989
SUBJECT: COMMENTS ON LANDSCAPING PLAN -
RAMSEY COUNTY LIBRARY
In general, I think that this plan looks pretty good. I would, however, suggest
consideration of the following:
1. Substituting Redmond linden or Norway maple for the Summit ash in the
northernmost (non -parking lot) area (six trees). Pm seeing more and more
disease and insect problems with green ash varieties.
2. Moving back the spruce located at the comer (low berm) of the intersection to
allow for better visibility. The same should be considered for the spruce/pine
combination east of the parking lot entrance near the sidewalk.
3. The use of fleeceflower should be considered only if adequate time can be given
to their demanding cultivating and upkeep. I also wish the shrub beds were
specified out so I knew what went where, but I trust the landscape architect
took into consideration site exposures, snow storage and compaction, etc.
Please call me if you have any further questions.
RF%'/SLL
M
4:,J
