I MEMO TO: MAYOR AND COUNCILMEMBERS <br />FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR <br />PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY <br />DATE: OCTOBEER 23, 1989 <br />SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF 1990 CITY NEWSLETTER PRINTING BID <br />Staff requests Council to review the attached City Newsletter bid specifications for <br />1990. Staff is recommending three changes. <br />The first recommended change is under specification #2 Paper Stock. Staff is <br />recommending a semi -glossy cover page of 80 pound paper. Past brochures have used <br />the same 60 pound paper throrghout the newsletter. The November/December <br />newsletter is an example of a 70 pound semi -glossy cover. The 80 pound would be <br />heavier. Staff is recommending the change because it adds to the appearance of the <br />City Newsletter. <br />The second recommended change is under specification #3 Ink. Staff has found that <br />black ink on white paper is most readable. In addition, staff recommends that the <br />cover be in two colors including black and another color of different selection each <br />edition. The additional color also adds to a more attractive appearance. <br />The thud recommended change is under specification #5 Bundling. This service <br />provides quick and easy preparation for carrier pre-sort postage requirement. <br />Staff requests the City Council's direction regarding this recommendations to the bid <br />specifications for the 1990 City Newsletter. <br />MS/SL <br />Attachment <br />NO <br />
