Truth In Taxation Legislation could not adopt our <br />budgetlevy until <br />d <br />the public hearing in December. In past years, <br />to be certifieddnno laterabout h <br />an Oc <br />Departments grpreparingrbudgetsrks Publicaad <br />during thetimeoofs <br />year that was the busiest for them but had no choice due to the <br />deadline for certification of the levy. This year we have a <br />choice. If Council would approve the maximum levy <br />could certified by September l(as was done last year) and a preliminary <br />budget could be certified on that date also. This preliminary <br />budget could be the amount of estimated revenue the City <br />will <br />receive from all sources. since the City's policy has been to <br />have a balanced budget that number would be fairly close to the <br />budget that would ultimately be adopted. The budget preparation <br />process would take place after September 1 and would be <br />completed no later than the date of the City's public hearing on <br />the budget. This would enable Public Works and the Parks <br />departments more time to concentrate on departmental workloads <br />during their busiest times.
