Part- 5 - Engineering HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT REGIILATIMIS �I <br />5-910.4 <br />November 1965 <br />5-910.4 PROCEDURES <br />A. The following procedures will apply to the processing of <br />f <br />requests for the installation and maintenance of traffic <br />control signals: <br />1. The District Engineer shall 'suhnit a Traffic Report to <br />the Traffic Engineer regarding each location where a <br />��'• <br />request for traffic signal control has heen received <br />from a nun icipality <br />or where the Dcparttacnt requests <br />a study to appraise the need for traffic signal control. <br />The District Engineer shall follow the pgtli.^.e of it.- <br />Traffic Report shown in Section 5-)91.sl2 0£ the Traffic <br />Manual. <br />^'} <br />^_ <br />2. The Traffic Engineer will evaluate the data contained <br />in <br />l <br />the TraFfic Report and ::it) determine the justification <br />of the proposed installation. <br />3. If the proposed installation is justtfied, the Traffic <br />1" <br />Engineer will prepare an agreement between the Ilighway <br />Department and the municipality for <br />the installation <br />and maintenance of the traffic control signals. <br />4. After the agreement has been executed, the Traffic Engineer <br />will delegate the designieg <br />of the signal installation <br />either to the District Engineer or to the Traffic Engineering <br />Section. In either case, final approval of ril signal plans <br />end specifications will he by the <br />Traffic Engineer and pro- <br />gramming of the project will be by the District Engineer. <br />S. The installation and maintenance of the equipment will be <br />performed <br />as specified in the agreement with the municipality <br />tinder the supervision of the District Engineer. <br />5-910.5 RCSPO;i'IOILITY <br />- <br />A. The responsibility for implementing these policies and procedures is <br />assigned as follows: <br />l.. District Eikgireers <br />a. To suhmit to the Traffic Engineer a Traffic Rer,rt <br />regarding each location where a signal control request <br />is received. <br />b. To program signal control installations in his respective <br />District. <br />S <br />
