Title: Clerk -Typist Date: October, 1987 <br />Department: Police <br />Accountable To: Police Secretary <br />Primary Obiective of Position <br />To perform assigned record -keeping and clerical duties in a manner - <br />which will faciltate the maintenance of department information <br />in <br />an up-to-date and current status at all times <br />Maior Areas of Accountability <br />Performs the umbering, classification, filing and <br />1 <br />processing of all incoming incident reports as assigned <br />= <br />and assists with typing of final reports for entry into the <br />computer bank <br />Assumes responsibility for specific files and/or records <br />2 <br />necessary to department operations and keeps such records <br />and files in an up-to-date current status at all times <br />Answers phone inquiries providing assistance whenever <br />3 <br />r possible and forwarding calls when required to the <br />appropriate personnel <br />--Maintains radio contact with officers on duty to <br />ensure a quick response time to citizen requests <br />Develops and maintains a good working knowledge of the <br />4 <br />criminal justice reporting system and ensures all filing <br />and classification is done according to provided guide- <br />lines of the BCA <br />%z <br />Types various correspondence, memos, reports and other 5 <br />documents as assigned, consistent with provided informa- <br />tion and instructions <br />Inputs all uniform offense crimes to the BCA on a daily 6 <br />basis according to guidelines set by the State <br />Assists the public with Operation Identification 7 <br />Run driver license checks and record checks on computer 8 <br />for tickets sent to court daily <br />Clears cases in criminal history files with information 9 <br />from the court <br />Keeps the Polic Chief and/or Department Secretary 10 <br />informed of matters which require immediate attention <br />or action <br />Assumes other responsibilities as delegated 11 <br />
