MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY CU IL <br />FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 23, 1987 <br />SUBJECT: ASSOCIATE BUILDING INSPECTOR POSITION <br />The 1967 Budget includes $9,000 for the position of Associate <br />Building Inspector to hire an individual qualified to perform <br />housing inspections of all rental housing units in the City. <br />Attached to this memorandum please find a memo from Engineering <br />Technician/Assistant Building Inspector Brian Hoffman <br />recommending that Karl Pung, who is currently assisting the City <br />in completing the documentation of MSA Projects, be hired to <br />perform these duties. <br />I have met with Brian and Karl and discussed in detail Brian's <br />proposal. Karl is acceptable to the conditions of the proposal <br />and based on the quality of the work he has performed for the <br />City during the past two summers when he has assisted the City <br />with MSA Projects, I would strongly recommend Council approval of <br />Brian's recommendation. By hiring Karl to do this work, the City <br />would not only have an individual who could complete the housing <br />inspections, but would also have one who could assist Brian with <br />his various engineering duties at a time when Brian's workload <br />has been increased significantly due to the absence of a Public <br />Works/Community Development Director and the reassignment of <br />Steve Rose. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approving the hiring of Karl <br />Pung as Associate Building Inspector commencing March 9, 1987 for <br />1,000 at $6.50 per hour. <br />DFP/mjs <br />Attachment: <br />
