MEMO TO: PLANNING COMMISSION
FROM: CLERK-ADMINrSTRATO
DATE: FEBRUARY 27, 1987
SUBJECT: AMOCO OIL COMPANY (WAGNER CORPORATION) PROPOSAL,
2800 TRUNK HIGHWAY 10, CASE NO. 196-86
Pursuant to your direction at the February 18th Agenda
Session of the Planning Commission, Staff has reviewed
specific items with respect to the proposal and wishes to
report on our findings.
1) Storm Water Ponding - The ponding proposed by the
developer. is adequate pursuant to the requirements
of City Codes. Any provisions for special handling
regarding spillage of gasoline, oil, etc. which
might ultimately drain into the ponds is not
specifically addressed in the Code and a determina-
tion by the Planning Commission would need to be
made to require a design which would allow for
handling of these items.
2) City Forester Rick Wriskey reviewed the landscape
plan proposed for the site and makes the following
recommendations:
' a. Substitute "Marshall's" Ash for "Summit" Ash.
The Marshall's seem to grow better in this area
and have a more developed crown and will have
fewer seeds, if any.
b. Plant an additional Marshall's Ash on the south-
east property line approximately 15 feet north
of the plantings buffering Silver Lake Road from
the site.
c. Change the size of the trees to be planted from
5 to 6 foot balled and burlapped to 2 to 2 1/2
inch diameter balled and bur.lapped. The size of
trees specified are too small for the location
proposed and more than likely would not survive
an extreme winter during the first few years of
their growth.
d. Change the rock mulch from 5/8 to 3/4 inch multi
colored stone to a brown or grey trap of 3/4
to 1 inch. Rick feels that fewer problems
related to loose stones will result from this
modification.
3) Sand traps - Building Inspector Brian Hoffman has
advised that sandtraps are required as part of the
project and will need to meet building code
provisions prior to the building permit being
issued.
