MEMO TO: DON PAULEY, CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR
FROM: MARY SAARION, DIRECTOR
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY
DATE: MAY 21, 1987
RE; PROBATIONARY REVIEW OF SHARIE LINKS, ADMINISTRATIVE
ASSISTANT TO THE PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY DEPT.
It is time to perform a six month probationary review of Sharie
Links, who was promoted to Administrative Assistant to the Parks,
Recreation and Forestry Department as approved by the City Council
commencing December 1, 1986.
In my estimation, Sharie has dune an outstanding job in running the
office. This opinion is justified when one considers the many
changes occurring in the department during this six month time.
first, the new computer registration beginning with the added
burden of registering family files as well as program activity
input. To date, over 1,200 families have been entered. This is an
exciting advancement, but it does take additional time and will
continue to take time for an estimated 1-1/2 years when most
frequent users/participants will be filed.
Secondly, the Department was without an aquatics supervisor during
the transition from Peter Rechtzigel's resignation to Kelly
Lindquist's starting date. This meant that additional aquatics
duties fell on Sharie.
Finally, the months of March - May are the most demanding
administrative months during the year because the adult softball,
youth athletics and Spring and Summer aquatics registrations occur.
It is predicted, that since the office can function effectively
during these key six months, the following months will prove to
function efficiently and effectively also.
Sharie's roll as department Administrative Assistant is further
acknowledged when it is considered that two brochures have been
developed within the six months time. Sharie continues to type,
lay -out and design the brochure which is picture/copy ready for the
printer.
Finally, Sharie has taken the added burden of administering and
implementing several recreation classes requiring instructor
supervision.
For these reasons, I recommend the permanent appointment of Sharie
Linke to the position of Administrative Assistant to the Director of
Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.
MS/sl
