POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY WRITE-UP <br />Mounds View <br />POSITION TITLES Administrative Assistant <br />DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation and Forestry <br />ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director - Parks, Recreation and Forestry <br />DATE: May, 1987 <br />--------- ------------------ ---- <br />Primary Objective of Position <br />To plan, implement, oversee and evaluate assigned City recreation <br />programs to,meet the identified needs of the community and provide <br />for widespread participation. <br />To relieve the Director of administrative detail. <br />To perform, in a timely and accurate manner, all requested typing, <br />photocopying and preparation of other materials for the City <br />Forester, Aquatics Supervisor, Senior Citizens Coordinator and other <br />support staff. <br />----------------------------------------- <br />Major Areas of Accountability <br />Plans, implements and evaluates recreation activity programs as <br />assigned within the overall City program based on identified <br />community needs. <br />Administers the screening of applicants, makes recommendation for <br />hiring and performs other necessary paperwork of the part-time <br />employees of programs as assigned to ensure activites are presented <br />by well- trained and competent instructors/leaders and volunteers <br />for city recreation programs. <br />Develops and submits a documented budget for assigned programs and <br />establishes procedures which will control expenditures within <br />approved budgetary limitations. <br />Assists in the preparation of recreation brochures, flyer, newspaper <br />articles, phone calls, contacts and other measures with the goal of <br />promoting opportunties and available programs provided by the City. <br />Implements a variety of public relations activities designed to make <br />the most effective use of available promotion possibilities through <br />local media, flyers, school announcements, posters, letter <br />correspondence, etc. and follows through to evaluate, to the extent <br />possible, the success of such endeavors. <br />Maintains a computerized registration system including development <br />of program codes and data entry. Works with computer programmer in <br />the development and improvement of the parks and recreation <br />registration software. <br />
