MEMO TO: Clerk -Administrator and City Council
FROM: Public Works Foreman Rose
DATE: May 28, 1987
SUBJECT: PURCHASE OF SIGNS
The City, within the last three years, has switched over street
signs from a black on white painted sign to a white on green
scotchlite. Previous to this, the shop had on hand one or two
sets of replacements. Since the change over, none of the new
scotchlite signs have been stocked. Also, since the new
installation has occurred, they seem to disappear more often.
The traffic control budget account I100-270-4126 was $2,678.00.
To stock the necessary signs, the cost would be approximately
$1,500.00. Although only $660.00 was budgeted for this
particular item, I believe the budget will still be kept within
reason.
Attached are three quotes for the signs per unit. The low quote
is from Gopher Signs whom we have used in the past at $10.25 per
sign.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve purchase of street signs for stock not
to exceed 500.00 from Gopher Signs.
SAR/bac
i
