1M , <br />MEMO TO: Mayor & Council <br />FROM: Finance Director —Treasurer Brager (1/j <br />DATE: July 16, 1987 �(\` <br />RE: CERTIFICATION OF DELINQUENT UTILITY BILLS TO RAMSEY <br />COUNTY FOR COLLECTION WITH 1988 PROPERTY TAXES <br />Past practice of the City has been to certify delinquent utility <br />accounts to Ramsey County for collection with the next year's <br />property tax levy. Attached please find a list of utility <br />accounts proposed to be certified to Ramsey County. It should be <br />noted that this list was prepared on July 1, and July 8, 1987. <br />If payments are received on accounts that are on this list, staff <br />will advise Council of that and remove them from the list. Staff <br />proposes sending a letter to persons on the list advising of <br />Council's intent to levy tax on their property for these past due <br />amounts and that a hearing will be held at 7:05 p.m. on <br />September 14, 1987 to consider this matter. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Council authorize sending of notices to persons <br />having delinquent utility accounts and holding a public hearing <br />at 7:05 p.m. on September 14, 1987 to consider certifying these <br />delinquent utility accounts to Ramsey County for collection with <br />1988 property taxes. <br />DB/ds <br />Enclosures: List of delinquent accounts to be certified <br />Sample letter to delinquent accounts <br />
