MPPROVED <br />November 23,_1987 <br />+�__ Page Three <br />Regular Meeting <br />------------------- <br />0lerk/Administrator Pauley reported the Blaine/Spring <br />Lake Park/Mounds View Fire Department has requested <br />$4,600 from Mounds View to replenish their contingency <br />fund. He explained this occurs each year, and the <br />reason the fund is depleted this year is due in large <br />part to a 31% increase in calls this past year. <br />Motion/Second: Quick/Blanchard to approve the <br />replenishment of the contingency fund in the amount <br />of $4,600 for the Fire Department. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Councilmember Quick reported he had had contact with <br />another volunteer fire department, and they were <br />experiencing the same problem, and it was due largely <br />to the number of grass fires this past year. <br />Clerk/Administrator Paulev reported the City had <br />received a petition for a security light in <br />Groveland Park, and it is the recommendation of the <br />Park and Rec Director to have the light placed on the <br />pole in the tot lot. Code requires that the wires <br />be placed in the ground, and Gopher Electric has <br />submici:ed a bid for $542, with the City doing the <br />crenching. <br />Motion/Second: Quick/Wuori to authorize the placement <br />of the security light at Groveland Park. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Councilmember Quick -noted there had been security <br />lighting in the park prior to the placement of the <br />tennis court. <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley reviewed his memo of <br />November 19 to the Council regarding the reconstruc- <br />tion of the sanitary sewer and abandonment of the <br />lift station on County Road I, in connection with <br />Project 87-4, and he reviewed the problems experienced <br />with the sinking of the fill material around the <br />manhole. <br />He explained it was imperative to commence work <br />immediately to avoid any further delays in the <br />project and to avoid a complete collapse of the line, <br />and they negotiated with the contract" for a time <br />and materials contract not to exceed $17,000, and he <br />ted Council approval of a change order for this <br />s <br />eque <br />Jwork. <br />9.
