Moyvnde V�94 Cit+��o e3l <br />Regular Meeting' UNAPPROV <br />E'^r November 23, 1987 <br />I --- Page Six <br />------------- <br />Councilmember Hankner stated this item was not on r �" <br />the agenda for this evening, and she felt it should <br />have been postponed, to allow for public input. <br />Councilmember Blanchard stated she was in favor of <br />acting on the resolution, as this gives the County <br />direction from the City. She added it is not <br />written in stone but it gives the library board <br />something to work with. <br />Councilmember Quick stated he agreed with Council - <br />member Hankner's comments, the the item was not <br />listed on the agenda, and he would like to get <br />together with the Council's from the northern <br />suburbs to discuss the options and come to a <br />mutual agreement. <br />Councilmember Wuori stated she felt this was a <br />direction for the City to go, and they should <br />continue their afforts for action by the library <br />board. <br />Councilmember Hankner stated she was not necessarily <br />in opposition to the resolution, but she felt <br />strongly the item should be listed on the agenda, and <br />the issue should be discussed with the other cities, <br />before action is taken. <br />Councilmember Quick stated he is 100 percent behind <br />the library, but that he is just opposed to the <br />mechanics of this resolution. <br />Commissioner McCarty stated the county board asked the <br />cities to give them direction, but they are more than <br />willing to listen to recommendations, and he asked <br />what the City's recommendation is for funding the <br />operating costs and what that total cost would be. <br />Mayor Linke stated the Council does not have those <br />figures, but this resolution provides a starting point <br />so that those calculations can occur by the county <br />board. He added a starting point is needed and he <br />feels the City has provided one. <br />Councilmember Hankner stated she favors a good library <br />system, and she is in support of having one in Mounds <br />View, but she still feels there are a number of issues <br />to be worked out with the other north suburban cities. <br />Clerk!Administzator Pauley reported the bids were 14. Report of <br />opened for the public improvements fot the Mounds Clerk/ <br />View Business Park, and a formal recommendation will Admin.istraLIXi <br />be made at the December 14 meeting. He added the bids <br />appear tc be quite a bit lower than was estimated. <br />
