Age and Functional Claarificahion Inventor Table 2 summarizes the Local Streets starting with oldest aegmwnt first and are grouped as to when tliey last had major maintenace. Table 3 similarly summarizes the MSA Street. Tablo 4 summarizes the County Roads and Table 5 summarizea the CSAH road3. Figure 1 illustrates the age of the sytem by percent and Figure 2 illustrates the cummulative distribution by age. As can be seen approximately 52 percent of the system was built in 1967, 75 percent of the system was built prior to 196E (over 15 years old), and 85 to 90 percent of the system is at least 10 years old, The normal design life of bituminous pavements is 20 years with routine seal coating being recommended every 3 to 7 years depending on traffic -ol,imes and surface distress. As bituminous pavements become 20 to 25 years old major resurfacing and/or reconstruction will be required.
