-5- <br />GOAL <br />This proposed program offers an opportunity for parents to register <br />their school age children) in a fun recreational program of <br />activities during normal workday hours. <br />This program alleviates parental stress of searching for <br />childcare during non -school workdays. This program offers a - <br />good, fun program for children who may otherwise be left alone <br />at home. <br />OBJECTIVES <br />The objectives of this program are to offer a program of daylong _ <br />activities for every day that the Mounds View School District f621 <br />schedules a non -school day which is normal business days excluding <br />Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years days. The program dates <br />correspond to the vacation days established by the School ?, <br />District. - <br />TARGET POPULATION <br />This program is specifically designed for school age children 6 - <br />12 years old whose parent(s) work and do noL have alternative <br />daycare arrangements for school vacation days. This proposal is <br />written -with the assumption of 30 participants for budgetary <br />statistics 'but .can be altered to accommodate any number of <br />participants. <br />L METHODOLOGY <br />A program of activities will be distributed to families via the <br />City Newsletter and flyers distributed through the schools. <br />Interested persons can register his/her children) for as many of <br />the (lays -as needed. -The offerings will be pub'icized quarterly and <br />will fallow the sci,00l's schedule of events. <br />The prograd•ihformation will include a schedule of activities.as <br />shown on the attached flyer. The schedule will include active and <br />passive activities and will feature special events -such as trips, <br />guests or parties. <br />TIMETABLE <br />The timetable includes a ccr,-,'-`^ --chool year of school vacation _ <br />days. The first etep is to design the program activities and hire <br />supervisors. <br />The second step is'tb advertise the program by two successful <br />methods: <br />1. City Newsletter - This newsletter is distributed to every <br />resident in mounds View via the U. S. Postal Service. <br />2. Flyers - Flyers distributed through the schools is a direct <br />link to the very children that this program is to serve. <br />
