He explained this amendment would allow non- <br />commercial signs in the right of way under certain restrictions. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Smith. Resolution 10086, Authorizing the Purchase of One Dual Purpose Police K9 <br />and to Attend the TAC 21 Patrol Dog Certification Training to Replace K9 <br />Ace who is being Medically Retired. <br /> <br />Police Chief Zender requested the Council authorize the purchase of one dual purpose Police K9 <br />and to attend the TAC 21 Patrol Dog Certification Training to replace K9 Ace who is being <br />medically retired. He explained K9 Ace was purchased and trained in the spring of 2022. He <br />reported after suffering an elbow injury, it was recommended K9 Ace be medically retired this fall <br />and that a new K9 be pursued. He discussed the costs associated with the new K9 noting this K9 <br />would be trained for both drugs and apprehension. <br /> <br />Council Member Gunn asked who would be the new K9 handler. Police Chief Zender reported he <br />offered this position to Officer Ause and he was considering this. <br /> <br />Further discussion ensued regarding K9 Ace being used for community outreach after his <br />retirement. <br />
