Mounds View City Council May 12, 2025 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />Council. He commended the City for their strong financial position and stated he was available for <br />comments or questions. <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom thanked Mr. Nielsen for his detailed presentation. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn. To accept the 2024 Audit Report as presented. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. May 18-24, 2025 Public Works Week - Proclamation. <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom read a proclamation in full for the record declaring May 18 through May 24, <br />2025 to be Public Works Week in the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />C. 2025 Mounds View Police Department Quarter 1 Report – Police Chief <br />Zender. <br /> <br />Police Chief Zender discussed the Quarter 1 Report from the Mounds View Police Department. <br />He reviewed the community outreach that occurred in January, February and March. He thanked <br />everyone how participated in the Daddy Daughter Dance, along with the Polar Plunge. He <br />commended Officer Olendorf for being recognized as the top DWI enforcer for the department. <br />He reported CSO Overton signed a letter stating he will work for Mounds View after he finished <br />his skills. He explained the department’s VCET officer was recognized by the DA for his excellent <br />performance in his job. He commented on the shooting that occurred at Towns Edge. He discussed <br />how productivity was up within the department even with the lower staffing level. He stated Flock <br />continues to be a great deterrent for the community. He commented on the training his officers <br />received so far this year. He explained his officers were working through the loss of K9’s Niko <br />and Griz, but stated K9 Ace was doing great work for the community. He discussed how the <br />League of Minnesota Cities reached out to him to showcase the department’s K9 program. Lastly, <br />he noted May 11 through May 17 was National Police Week. <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom commented on the number of views and reactions his post regarding K9 Griz <br />has received. Police Chief Zender stated he was an amazing dog that will be dearly missed by the <br />community. Further discussion ensued regarding the department’s K9 program. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he attended the nine mayors meeting today for Mayor <br />Lindstrom and noted the Flock cameras were discussed. <br /> <br />Council Member Smith thanked the Mounds View Police Department for all of their efforts on <br />behalf of the community. <br /> <br />7. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom encouraged the public to speak with kindness and respect when addressing the <br />City Council during Public Comment.
