Page 2 Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor <br />• Train, direct, schedule, supervise, and evaluate staff: including ice rink attendants, seasonal referees, seasonal <br />summer program staff, and youth development staff. <br />• Train employees on necessary procedures, policies, and systems. <br />• Utilize a recreation management software to schedule programs, reserve facilities, communicate with participants, <br />and access necessary data and information. <br />• Assists the Parks and Recreation Superintendent in preparing the operating budget for programs and reviews the <br />financial status of programs. <br />• Create program descriptions and marketing materials for the seasonal program guides and youth programs <br />newsletter. <br />Other Work Functions (Illustrative Only): <br />Performs related work as required. <br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: <br />• Valid Minnesota driver's license. <br />• Thorough knowledge of recreation administration principles and practices. <br />• Thorough knowledge of the equipment and techniques necessary to successfully conduct recreation programs. <br />• Thorough knowledge of the methods involved in organizing, conducting, promoting and leading recreation activities. <br />• Basic knowledge of first aid methods and necessary safety precautions to be used in recreation work. <br />• Ability to plan, organize and implement a variety of recreation programs. <br />• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish effective working relationships. <br />• Demonstrate initiative and excellent problem -solving skills. <br />• Demonstrate an ability to effectively handle a wide variety of projects and problems in an effective and professional <br />manner. <br />• Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively deal with difficult or angry people. <br />• Ability to speak a second language (or multilingual) may benefit the position. <br />• Grant writing knowledge is helpful to the position. <br />• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when needed. <br />• Demonstrate an ability to effectively handle a wide variety of projects and problems in an effective and professional <br />manner. <br />• Skill in the operation of office tools, recreation software, digital filing, and equipment. <br />• Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively deal with difficult or angry people. <br />• Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within six (6) months of hire. <br />• Knowledge of a second language or multilingual, may be helpful. <br />• Ability to setup and clean rooms when custodial staff not available. <br />Persons with disabilities: the above is a general listing of job duties.
