MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL _
PAGE TWO N
APRIL 8, 1988
These options are as follows:
1. Continue the current prohibition on the use of our
garage facilities by anyone other than City
employees during the performance of their normal
dutiea.
2. Adopt a policy allowing for the use of the Public
Works Garage facilities by City employees only and
on their personal vehicles as c•itlined in the
attached proposed Administrative Policy.
3. Allow the use of the City's Public Works garage
facility by City employees and their spouses and
dependent children when in the presence of City
employees as suggested by members of the Department
Head team.
It is my recommendation that considering the fact that no
one will seem to be happy with any of the policies we listed
above, the potential liabilities we assume by allowing after
hours use of our garage facilities for personal purposes,
and the difficulty in insuring that the policy is being
abided by due to the unusual hours involved in using the
facility it is my recommendation that the City ccntinue with
its current policy prohibiting the use of the City's garage
facilities by employees after hours on personal vehicles or
equipment.
Your direction in this matter would be appreciated.
DFP/mjs
