Item No. 613 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />To: Parks & Recreation & Forestry Commissioners <br />From, Pete Szurek — Public Works Superintendent <br />Date: May 22, 2025 <br />RE: Public Works Staff Report <br />The following is a synopsis of recent activities and events of the Public Works Department. <br />(3 fulltime Park Workers 2 seasonal workers) worked on the following items since <br />May 1st, 2025. <br />Parks Maintenance <br />• Trash pickup Mondays and Fridays at all park locations <br />• Ballfield grooming and leveling <br />• Field marking painting for: 3 soccer fields,1 Lacross field and 7 baseball fields. <br />• Splash Pad County Inspection and splash pad repairs/ testing on going <br />• Mowing all parks <br />• Spring startup of 11 irrigation systems with repairs and adjustments on going <br />• Drinking fountain maintenance <br />• Daily baseball field game preparations <br />Forestry <br />Staff worked on the following items this last month: <br />• Resident phone consults and site visits, many private resident diseased tree removals left from the <br />2024 marking) <br />• Contractor meets and calls <br />• City Tree Inspector Bradley Holt started, his first day was 5-20-2025. <br />• Tree sale- around 40 trees remain that will be planted in the parks. <br />The following is the List of Parks and projects / maintenance activities ongoing or planned this year. <br />Current updates are in black text, and updates from the previous two -month period are in grey. <br />Ardan Park <br />• Planting seed, scheduled for 4-23-2025 (Winberg Companies) <br />• Ramsey County said they will be repairing the fencing for the compost and adding privacy fabric to <br />the west side of the fencing, they did not provide a time frame. <br />11Page <br />
