<br />Item No: 06C <br />Meeting Date: 08/25/2025 <br />Type of Business: Special Order of Business <br />Administrator Review : ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Ben Zender, Chief of Police <br />Item Title/Subject: 2025 Quarter 2 Report <br /> <br />Background: <br />As part of the City Strategic Plan process, Department Heads provide a quarterly report <br />outlining the status of their projects and percent completed in achieving the goals and <br />policies adopted by the City Council through the Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />At the beginning of 2025, the Mounds View Police Department has completed all the <br />action steps and tasks in order to fulfill the goals and strategies to support the City <br />Councils Vision and Mission as outlined in the 2023-2025 City Strategic Plan. The <br />Mounds View Police Department continues to work on recruitment, retention, wellness, <br />proactivity, and outreach. <br /> <br />Strategic Plan Vision/Strategy/Goal: Vison: A progressive community that is <br />welcoming, and a desirable destination to all ages and cultures, who seek progress <br />through partnerships, and where residents can work, live, and play safely and show <br />pride in the community. <br /> <br />Goal A: Increased enforcement and responsiveness to drugs, traffic, code violations, <br />and petty crimes. <br /> <br />1. VCET continues to make several major narcotic arrests <br />2. Officers have participated in several DWI, speed enforcement, seat belt, and <br />distracted driving details through the Ramsey County Traffic Safety Initiative <br />(RCTSI) <br />3. An Officer was nominated for traffic related awards to include the MADD Awards <br />and the MVPD Top DWI Performer <br />4. Flock Camera Safety Systems are installed throughout the city <br />5. Two portable speed signs and one solar speed sign are being deployed <br />throughout the city <br /> <br />Goal B: Continue community outreach programs. Focus on diversity events and public <br />relation activities. <br /> <br />1. Increase social media presence and activity through X (formally Twitter), Next <br />Door, Instagram, and now the MVPD has a Facebook page! <br />2. Partnered with the Mounds View Police Foundation for a Cross of Glory <br />luncheon and a Juneteenth Event where hot dogs were served (Hot Dogz cart) <br />3. Partnered with the Mounds View Police Foundation for a bake sale at Abiding <br />Savior Lutheran Church during their community meal <br />4. Partnered with city and community members for the Tribute Park Committee <br />5. Participated in High School Career Fairs (Blaine and New Brighton)
