Mounds View PD Reserve Unit 2025 Quarter 2 Report
Reserve Officers volunteered a total of twenty-seven (27) hours in the second quarter of
2025. Mark Walker continues to integrate himself back into the Police Department after
quite a lengthy time away. Mark rode along with CSO Overton to re-train and learn new
concepts and procedures. Mark is now cleared for solo patrol.
During the second quarter of 2025, Reserve Officers completed multiples hours of
administrative duties and proactive patrols. Reserve Officers completed their annual
Taser and OC recertification in April. Reserve Officer Don assisted the City of Champlin
Park with their city parade in June.
Sgt. Hanson spoke with a few departments over the past couple months and found that
it is a struggle to maintain and recruit Reserve Officers. The MVPD was unable to assist
the Roseville Police Department with their annual Rosefest Parade this year. This is the
first time in the last three years that we were unable to assist. Roseville PD echoed the
same sentiment of maintaining and recruiting Reserves. Preston Schmidt is no longer
volunteering as a Reserve Officer with the MVPD, but we thank him for the time and
effort he put in during his time here. We wish Preston and his family all the best in his
future endeavors.
