Mounds View City Council October 27, 2025 <br /> Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> 1 discussed the mass notifications that were sent out when this crime occurred. Further discussion <br /> 2 ensued regarding all of the agencies that were involved in this incident. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 The Council thanked the Mounds View Police Department and all agencies that responded to the <br /> 5 burglary for their tremendous efforts on behalf of the community. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Police Chief Zender reviewed the Quarter 3 report from the Mounds View Police Department with <br /> 8 the City Council. He reported K-9 Ace was medically retired and will be deeply missed. He <br /> 9 thanked Officer Aase for taking on a new K-9 on behalf of the department. He commented on the <br /> 10 community outreach that occurred during the third quarter noting this included National Night Out <br /> 11 and Festival in the Park. He stated he enjoyed attending the Tribute Park unveiling as well as the <br /> 12 grand opening of the sport court. He indicated he was currently at 18 officers, and one officer had <br /> 13 received a conditional officer. He explained SRO Nina Garcia was doing an amazing job serving <br /> 14 in the schools. He reported his investigators were doing a great job processing scenes and the <br /> 15 department's VCET member was recently involved in the 900-pound meth bust. He commented <br /> 16 on how his officers remained proactive in the community,noting calls for service were up 300 and <br /> 17 arrests were up 30, despite the department's staffing level. He reviewed the training and events his <br /> 18 officers have attended in recent weeks and encouraged the public to participate in the upcoming <br /> 19 coat drive. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Council Member Meehlhause asked if there was a specific type of call that was up in Mounds <br /> 22 View. Police Chief Zender stated the increase in calls for service was due to the proactive policing <br /> 23 being conducted by his officers. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Mayor Lindstrom thanked Police Chief Zender for his detailed presentation and for all he does on <br /> 26 behalf of the community. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 7. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Mayor Lindstrom encouraged the public to speak with kindness and respect when addressing the <br /> 31 City Council during Public Comment. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Murwo Mohamed, 2657 Mounds View Boulevard, stated the intersection of Long Lake Road and <br /> 34 County Road I was too dark for walkers in the morning. She asked that the Council consider <br /> 35 improving the safety of pedestrians at this intersection. She thanked the Council for finally getting <br /> 36 a leg press at the Community Center. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Mayor Lindstrom reported the Council has discussed the lighting at the intersection of Long Lake <br /> 39 Road and County Road I with the County and noted it did not appear the County was interested in <br /> 40 addressing this concern but noted the City could keep trying. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Vince Meyer, 8380 Spring Lake Road, stated there was a safety concern when buses and large <br /> 43 trucks turn from Ardan onto Spring Lake Road. He reported Spring Lake Road was too narrow <br /> 44 and noted all of the signs that were posted have been knocked down. He asked that these signs be <br /> 45 reposed by the City. <br /> 46 <br />
