This resolution requires the City Council approve all seasonal positions. In 2020, <br /> Council recommended approval of the City operating a Parks and Recreation Department. Recruiment <br /> began for summer seasonal positions in February 2021. <br /> Discussion: <br /> Resolution 5546 requires Council approval take place six (6) weeks prior to the actual hiring of seasonal <br /> staff. Seasonal employees benefit the City be providing labor services during periods of higher labor <br /> demand at lower pay rates, keeping overall labor costs down. In return, seasonal employees benefit from <br /> the skills and work ethics they learn from the job. As a result, employees and citizens benefit from the <br /> seasonal employee program. <br /> Staff is requesting to begin filling the following summer seasonal positions: <br /> Returning <br /> Position #of Staff New Hire Wage Staff Wage <br /> Rec on the Go Coordinator 1 $19.00 $19.50 <br /> Assistant Camp Coordinator 3 $19.00 $19.50 <br /> Lead Counselor 5 $17.14 $17.66 <br /> Assistant Counselor Up to 9 1 $16.07 1 $16.59 <br /> Youth Sports Official 3 1 $17.14 1 $17.66 <br /> Newjob descriptions have been created for the Rec on the Go Coordinator and Assistant Camp Coordinator <br /> positions.
