however left after seeing the large crowd blowing whistles. The individual alerted the
source of supply in Mexico and the arrest was foiled.

In December 2025, Ramsey County VCET and DEA indicted 13 individuals for
numerous charges such as the conspiracy to distribute cocaine, the distribution of
cocaine, and money laundering. A second round of indictments are expected in the
coming months which will bring the total to 21. The individuals reside all over the United
States and Mexico.
Previous Case Update:
In the 2nd Quarter of 2024, Ramsey County VCET and DEA arrested an individual
responsible for selling pound quantities of methamphetamine to an undercover officer.
He/She then sent a 16-year-old, who had just crossed into the United States 9 days
earlier, to sell an additional pound of methamphetamine to an undercover officer. A
Search Warrant was executed and approximately 35 pounds of methamphetamine and
five firearms were located. This individual was recently sentenced to 180 months with
the Bureau of Prisons and will be deported to his/her home country when they are
finished completing their sentence.
Additionally, in 2025, Ramsey County VCET and DEA Investigators were given an
award for a long-term narcotic investigation in which 18 individuals were indicted and
sentenced. The leader in Mexico was caught and extradited to Minnesota where he
received a 300-month sentence with the Bureau of Prisons. He will be deported to his
home country when he completes his sentence.
One common theme you may notice above is who the cartels are using to deliver the
drugs to the customers. The drug runners meeting with the customers typically do not
have a criminal history. The runners will work regular jobs and then make deliveries in
the evenings. One reason they use individuals without a criminal history is because if
they are caught, they will likely get a light sentence and deported. That person will just
be replaced with someone else that is looking to make some extra money until they get
caught and the same process starts over again.
We are off to a great start in 2026! During the first week of January 2026, we conducted
three traffic stops in one day which led to the discovery of over 100 pounds of
methamphetamine, six arrests, and one pursuit. This will be covered more in the 1st
Quarter of 2026. Like previously stated, Ramsey County VCET looks forward to
continuing our strong partnerships with our federal partners as we focus on targeting the
large drug traffickers that are supplying our state with poison, along with violent
offenders.
