• JOB TITLE: Intern <br /> REPORTS TO: Director of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry <br /> SUPERVISES: Seasonal and Part Time Staff. (I.E.) Program <br /> Instructors, Coaches Officials, Lifegaurds, Leaders, ECT. <br /> JOB SUMMARY: <br /> Intern assumes an administrative/managerial role which involves <br /> performing duties and responsibilities commonly assigned to an entry <br /> level managerial position. Equally important, the intern investigates and <br /> learns about business/agency operations outside his/her immediate work <br /> assignments through orientation training, staff and board meetings, <br /> visitations with staff and tours of other departments, reading operational <br /> manuals, and/or preparing investigative reports. <br /> DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> • 1 . Participates in an orientation which includes a tour of area and <br /> facilities, introductory meetings with staff, brief overview of <br /> office and administrative procedures, familiarization of customer <br /> services, and review of basic intern responsibilities. This is to be <br /> completed in the first three weeks of the internship. <br /> 2. Works with other staff in the advertising, scheduling, facility <br /> preparation, budgeting, staffing, supplies preparation, registration, <br /> fees collection, and post evaluations for recreation program <br /> activities. Three programs are coordinated during the internship. <br /> 3. Plans and implements one major special event (holiday event, theme <br /> party, entertainment presentation, ect.). Process includes <br /> marketing, budgeting, scheduling, programming, safety management <br /> and post event evaluation. Instructs and/or leads one recreation <br /> program. <br /> 4. Visits other departments outside his/her immediate primary work <br /> area to gain a general overview of the business/ agency's operations. <br /> • Learns the department's primary functions, each staff member's <br />
