S The other option is the same as above with the addition of a full time daytime facility manager to supervise the building during daytime hours rather than moving the Parks and Recreation staff to the Community Center. This cost is over and above the first option and is therefore higher than the first option. Estimated conservative revenues were reviewed. The first option would basically break even. The second option would have a deficit of approximately $5,000. After discussion, the group had consensus opinion that it would be most cost effective to move Parks and Recreation staff to the Community Center to assume facility supervision during normal office hours. DESIGN: Architects Dave Woltersdorf and Dean Olsen reviewed a modified design without VB Digs. There was discussion regarding the teen center and how it would be supervised and monitored. Storage space, entries and exits, supervision and "vision" areas were discussed. Parking and general layout of the addition was discussed. Possibilities of additional partnerships on the land was discussed as it related to the layout of Phase II. Outdoor amenities were discussed. 0 Final recommendations included: outdoor options to consider are sand volleyball courts, hard court basketball, patio-like gathering area and grassy areas. Parking was to be changed from the east to the south so that options for other buildings could take place on the land located to the east of the community center- possibilities for tax increment revenues. The building addition design would be tilted a bit for a non-square appearance. The teen center area would not include an enclosed area and the divisions would provide easy vision. There would be ample area for table games. Glass would be available to look into the gymnasium. Entries and exits would be minimal and designed for easy supervision. The addition of office space would be included for Parks and Recreation staff. The ballroom area preferably would be hard floor and have the capability of closing to smaller rooms with room dividers. Outer walls to provide four wall enclosures for meeting room options. SPECIAL WORKSHOP: A special workshop of the City Council, Community Center Task Force and other Commissions to inform the general public of updated plans and design for the Community Center will be held Monday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
