Mounds View City Council March 9, 2026 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom encouraged the public to speak with kindness and respect when addressing the <br />City Council during Public Comment. <br /> <br />Vince Meyer, 8380 Spring Lake Road, discussed the City’s dump truck replacement. He noted <br />Anoka County replaces their dump trucks after 150,000 to 200,000 miles. He reported the City’s <br />dump truck has 29,000 miles on it. He understood the bottom plow needed to be replaced and he <br />recommended this work be done versus purchasing a new dump truck. He stated that by not <br />purchasing a new dump truck the City would be saving taxpayers $250,000. <br /> <br />Timothy Wood, 2501 Sherwood Road, thanked the City for hosting the second annual expo. He <br />was of the opinion this was a valuable event for the community. He reported the seed library will <br />be open again on Saturday, March 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and future meetings will be <br />held the second Saturday of the month through October from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Further <br />discussion ensued regarding the educational opportunities that would be held at the community <br />garden. <br /> <br />Tony Preciado, 8217 Long Lake Road, questioned what it would take to look at the City’s dump <br />truck. He asked what kind of bids the City received to repair the existing plow on the dump truck. <br />He inquired why the City’s public works department was not repairing roofs and installing its own <br />shingles. <br /> <br />Sharon Kirscher, 8406 Red Oak Drive, thanked the City for hosting the expo this past Saturday. <br />She appreciated all the communication and organization that occurred to draw in all the numerous <br />vendors that attended this event. <br /> <br />8. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br />A. Second Reading and Approval of Ordinance 1055, Rezoning the Property at <br />7687 Long Lake Road from R-1 (Single Family Residential) to ‘PUD’ (Planned <br />Unit Development) ROLL CALL VOTE. <br /> <br />Evan Monson, Stantec, requested the Council adopt an Ordinance that would rezone the property <br />at 7687 Long Lake Road from R-1 (Single Family Residential) to PUD (Planned Unit <br />Development). He explained this item was introduced at the Council’s last meeting. He noted the <br />applicant is proposing to develop a memory care facility on this property and the lot would be split <br />into two lots. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Smith. To Waive the Second Reading and Adopt Ordinance <br />1055, Rezoning the Property at 7687 Long Lake Road from R-1 (Single Family Residential) to <br />‘PUD’ (Planned Unit Development) directing staff to publish an ordinance summary. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: Clark/Gunn/Meehlhause/Smith/Lindstrom. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B.
