Mounds View City Council March 23, 2026 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom indicated he would be attending a Community Engagement Committee meeting <br />on Thursday, March 25 at the Community Center at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> B. Reports of Staff. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Beeman reported Dunkin Donuts was still pursuing their lease <br />agreement and building permits for the old Subway site. In addition, he noted Culver’s was still <br />pursuing their site and Caribou was looking to expand into the H&R Block suite. He anticipated <br />there would only be one vacancy in Mounds View Square after Minnesota Roots moves in. He <br />explained the Simons site has had plenty of interest, but an access agreement still must be reached. <br />He commented that staff was working to set up a meeting with the property owners. He indicated <br />preliminary discussions regarding the comp plan would begin next month at a staff level. He <br />reported the LAHA program was up and running. He noted there has been an upturn in permits <br />which has kept his department busy. <br /> <br />Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson requested the food distribution events be <br />moved to the City Hall parking lot so as not to interfere with the events being held at the <br />Community Center on Sundays. <br /> <br />Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson stated the summer camp registration was <br />full again this year. <br /> <br />Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson reported the Earth Day cleanup event would <br />be held on Saturday, April 18 and the tree planting event would be held on Friday, April 24 at <br />Groveland Park at 12:00 p.m. He noted the City would be hosting a rain planting garden <br />maintenance workshop at the Splash Pad parking lot on Tuesday, May 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson explained the City received a planning grant <br />in the amount of $160,000 that he would like to use in partnership with Edgewood Elementary <br />School to get students working with engineers on the maintenance of the stormwater ponds. He <br />provided the Council with further information on the grants City staff has received in recent years. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund stated the Twin Cities Gateway Visitors Bureau would meet in <br />Mounds View on Tuesday June 16 at the Mounds View Community Center at 11:00 a.m. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund reported the Council would be holding a work session meeting on <br />Monday, March 30. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund commented that the City of Anoka shared the gross revenues from <br />their first month of cannabis operation, which was right around $400,000. <br /> <br />C.
