Mounds View City Council June 6, 2026 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br /> <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 10258, <br />Authorizing Separation Compensation for Police Officer Riley Solz. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />F. Resolution 10261, Approving the Hire of Jessica Hilmanowski to position of <br />Receptionist. <br /> <br />Council Member Smith welcomed Jessica Hilmanowski to the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Smith/Clark. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 10261, <br />Approving the Hire of Jessica Hilmanowski to position of Receptionist. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />6. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br /> A. Citizen of the Year 2025, Resolution 10260 – Gerald Arel. <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom read a Resolution in full for the record and presented the Citizen of the Year <br />Award for 2025 to Gerald Arel. A round of applause was offered by all in attendance. <br /> <br />Gerald Arel thanked the City for this recognition. He explained he joined the Park and Rec <br />Commission 20 years ago after another member had to step down for health reasons. He stated he <br />began as a quiet member of the Commission and has grown into the Chair position. He discussed <br />the work he did on the Tribute Park and Park Master Plan. He commented further on how he has <br />been committed to having meetings on Thursday nights for many years. He stated he has greatly <br />enjoyed serving this community and thanked the City Council for this recognition. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn. To Adopt Resolution 10260, Awarding the 2025 <br />Citizen of the Year to Gerald Arel. <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated this was a great tradition the City started in 2002. He thanked <br />Mr. Arel for his tremendous service to the City of Mounds View stating it was a great honor to <br />recognize him as the Citizen of the Year. <br /> <br />Mayor Lindstrom indicated it was very clear Mr. Arel should be the Citizen of the Year for 2025. <br />He thanked Mr. Arel for his countless hours of service to Mounds View. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: Clark/Gunn/Meehlhause/Smith/Lindstrom. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />B. Coach of the Year 2025, Resolution 10263 - Joseph Nguyen <br />
