Call to Order at 6:34 PM <br /> Roll Call: Aukee, Palm, Kroeger, Kunz, Long, Arel, Peterson <br /> Staff Present: Prindle, Dazenski <br /> BRAA: Michael Hill <br /> <br />2. Approval of minutes from the September 25, 2008 meeting. Motion by Arel to approve minutes; <br /> 2nd by Long. Motion Passed 7-0. <br /> <br />3. Public Input - Citizens are encouraged to speak to the Parks and Recreation and Forestry Commissioners on issues of concern. No citizens present <br /> <br />4. YMCA Update: <br /> Wrapping up fall session <br /> Fall Family Fun day=40 families, way up from last year <br /> Winter Fun Day with Santa in December <br /> Swim Academy changing and growing <br /> Adult Leagues: Co-ed VB, Book Hockey at Hillview starting in January. <br /> Hiring for ice rink attendants. <br /> MVCC happenings flyer: MVCC garage sale, Moms and Daughters Defense Classes, Dance <br /> Direct Staff to send out information for Volunteer Coach of the Year in MV Matters <br /> Commissioner Aukee will draft an information box for the MV Matters for YMCA <br /> <br /> Discuss rental fields at Nov. meeting after MVCC has “fair share” discussion with SAB and IBL. <br /> <br />5. Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />a. Hillview Park parking spaces, per Street and Utilities Committee recommendation. <br /> Joint meeting with Street and Utilities Committee indicated the following issues that drove their recommendation to put off-street parking at Hillview Park at a cost of $71,500. The <br /> SUC recommended to City Council to take this from the Park Dedication Fund. <br /> 1) Greenwood: would lose 2 parking spots, Parking only allowed on East side of street <br /> *safety of young children darting out into traffic while adults watch older siblings play <br /> *driving onto gravel and grassy edge, <br /> *congestion with narrow street <br /> *signage difficult to see with tree cover and noncompliance to existing signage <br /> <br /> 2) Hillview: would increase from 15 to 27 parking spots; Parking only allowed on North side of Hillview Road (park side) only between Long Lake Road and Greenwood Drive <br /> *pulling off onto curb, <br /> *actually driving onto grass, <br /> *limited parking <br /> <br /> 3) Discussion of Commission: <br /> *Concerned with design regarding backing up from angled parking spot <br /> *Concern with more diagonals for children to run through more cars. <br /> *Residents survey, seemed to be residents living nearest the park wanted no change
