City Council Regular Meeting Minutes January 26, 2010 Page 3 1 • Liquor Store year end profits — $477,000 2 • Redo/Reconstruct of the city website will begin in February with Gov Office 3 • Joint Park Commission Meeting is scheduled for February 8"' at 5:15 p.m. 4 • Department Head Reports are scheduled: February 91h - March 9`h 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 • Auditors will be conducting the 2009 Audit — January/March • 2011 Budget Calendar begins in March • Erosion Control Seminar at St. Anthony City Hall — February I Ith @ 9 a.m. —11 a.m. or 1 p.m. — 3 p.m. • Flu Shot Clinic will be held in the Council Chambers — February 4th @ 3 p.m. — 6 p.m. • Citizen's Academy will begin March 10'h Mayor Faust requested City Manager Morrison to commend Liquor Manager Larson and his staff for the great job and the Police and Fire Departments for their work with students. Councilmember Stile: No report. Councilmember Gray: No report. Councilmember Jenson reported on his attendance at the Metro Cities 2010 Legislative Kickoff Session on January 21, 2010. Much of the discussion centered around the budget situation. Councilmember Roth: No report. Mayor Faust reported on his attendance at the following events: • January 13, 2010 Minnesota Environmental Quality Board Coordinating Planning Group Meeting. He has been appointed by the League of Minnesota Cities to represent municipalities. The group is dealing with requirements for the various comprehensive plans, including how the reports are consolidated with a logical sequence. This should result in a smoother operation and a better product in the end. It will require legislative effort at the state, as well as the federal level, and will likely be brought to the legislature in the 2011 legislative session. • January 14 & 15, 2010 City Council/Staff Retreat • January 19, 2010 Mississippi Watershed Management Organization (MWMO) meeting. He was elected Chair of the MWMO and Scott Vreeland of Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board was elected Vice Chair. • January 22, 2010 presentation of the ACEC Grand Award for the Water Re -Use Project. • January 23, 2010 he was invited to speak at the orientation of new Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board members at Gross National Golf Course. The Board is visiting adjacent cities in an effort to become good neighbors. • Fourth Annual Parking Lot & Sidewalk Maintenance Workshop today at City Hall. • Annual meeting this evening with City Manager Morrison, Police Chief Ohl, himself, and the mayors of Lauderdale and Falcon Heights. The meeting is to ensure that everything is running harmoniously. The mayors have nothing but positive comments about the Police Department and Police Chief Ohl.
