Resolution 10-073: A Resolution Supporting the St. Anthony -New Brighton School <br />18 District #282 in their Grant Request to Hennepin County Youth Sports Program for <br />19 Improvements to its Stadium Athletic Complex, Softball Facilities at Central Park, to <br />20 Improve the Drainage of the Multi -Purpose Fields in Central Park and to Revitalize <br />21 under -sized space to Create a Regulation Sized Soccer Field at Wilshire Park Elementary <br />22 Schools. Dr. Rod Thompson, ISD #282 Superintendent and Troy Urdahl, Athletic <br />23 Director. <br />24 <br />25 Dr. Rod Thompson, ISD #282 Superintendent, and Mr. Troy Udrahl, ISD #282 Athletics <br />26 Director, were present to discuss the ISD #282 softball, soccer, and athletic field improvements <br />27 grant proposal to Hennepin County Youth Sports Program. <br />28 <br />29 Mr. Urdahl provided an overview of the benefits associated with the following projects included <br />30 in the grant proposal: <br />31 1. Energy efficient stadium field light replacement <br />32 2. Wilshire park soccer field reconfiguration <br />33 3. Fencing for softball baseball soccer and football fields <br />34 4. Drain tile for softball baseball soccer and football fields. <br />35 <br />36 Mr. Urdahl answered questions of the City Council on the projects included in the grant proposal <br />37 in relation to fencing, estimated $93,000 in savings over 25 years as a result of the stadium field <br />38 light replacement, and the installation of drain tile to address issues with erosion. <br />39 <br />40 Mayor Faust noted the following statement included in the Executive Summary of the grant <br />41 proposal: "The purpose of this grant request is to increase access and use to the Stadium Athletic <br />42 Field through an environmentally -sound lighting improvement to St. Anthony Village's Central <br />43 Park, to improve the primary softball diamond facilities to encourage young women to continue <br />44 their involvement in athletics, and to reconfigure an existing tee -ball field to expand soccer <br />45 facilities and enable simultaneous use for soccer and tee -ball."
