He indicated the City is always open to <br />suggest ions from the community and the City is looking for a place to put a community garden. <br />He stated the City is proud to be one of seven cities to go directly to Step 2 recognition. <br />Councilmember Gray thanked the students for their hard work and thanked Public Works <br />Director Hartman and his staff for their work with the students. <br />Mayor Faust stated he was proud of the student's work at the March 23 sustainability symposium <br />and their work in helping the C ity get to the next level of GreenStep recognition. He indicated <br />he was grateful for their work and their efforts will help engage the public and give the City new <br />ideas . He asked the students about their first impressions of the C it y's sustainability efforts. <br />Mr. Sam Schroeder indicated he was amazed by what the City has a lr eady accomplished in its <br />sustainability efforts and was pleased to see how enthusiastic everyone was about the GreenStep <br />program . He stated it was a great experience to work with the C it y and was hopeful that the City <br />would continue to work with college students on these types of programs. <br />Mr. Addison Lewis stated it was refreshing to see the City Council so energetic about <br />sustainability and added that some of the other students in th eir class were working in <br />communities that were not as receptive about the GreenStep program . <br />Mayor Faust congratulated the two students who were graduating and thanked all of them for <br />their efforts. <br />REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />City Manager Casey reported that staff has been engaged in discussions with MWMO about <br />performing financial duties for MWMO under the direction of Finance Director Rueckert. He <br />stated that a shared services agreement will be presented to the City Counc il at an upcoming <br />meeting. He reported that as part of the reorganization of administrative staff, he has reached out <br />to New Brighton to partner with them on human resources functions and a shared services <br />agreement w ill be presented to the C it y Council in the near future. He added with the C it y 'S <br />limited resources , staff will continue to explore partnerships that will maintain quality City <br />services in the most effective and efficient manner possible. <br />Councilmember Roth reported on his attendance at the May 3'd cable commission meeting and <br />the May 71h C ity Counc il worksession . <br />Councilmember Stille reported on the City Council's participation in the City's clean-up day on <br />Saturday, May 51h • <br />Councilmember Gray -No report. <br />Mayor Faust reported on his attendance at the following: <br />• April 26 1h Metro Cities annual meeting.
