City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br />July 8, 2014 <br />Page 10 <br />1 City prepare an emergency response plan for railroad situations. He also requested that the City <br />2 provide educational material on how residents living by a railroad should respond in an <br />3 emergency situation and referenced an Emergency Resource Guide from the Department of <br />4 Transportation. He stated he previously raised the issue of whether the passage going from <br />5 Silver Lake Road to Foss Road was a valid crosswalk and stated that the City paves this area and <br />6 plows the snow, but the railroad has posted a no trespassing sign. He stated that trains stop there <br />7 on a daily basis for extended periods of time and was concerned about safety. He felt the City <br />8 should clarify whether this is a valid crosswalk and get proper signage in place. <br />9 <br />10 Mayor Faust stated that the State is aware of the train safety issues and has recently put in for <br />11 five new railroad inspectors and the City will adjust its operating procedures accordingly. <br />12 <br />13 Mr. Brown asked whether the organized collection contract includes townhomes. <br />14 <br />15 Mayor Faust stated the initial agreement provides services to residential units with one to three <br />16 units and does not include commercial, industrial, or apartments at this time. <br />17 <br />18 City Manager Casey noted there is a provision in the contract for associations to opt into the <br />19 contract. <br />20 <br />21 IX. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br />22 <br />23 Mayor Faust reported that Village Notes was recently sent out. <br />24 <br />25 X.
